With Me
When Your Body Won’t Let You Rest
It’s 2 a.m., and you’re awake again. Not because anything happened. Your body just decided, the way it decides most nights, that now is the time for your heart to pound and your thoughts to sprint. The melatonin got you down hours ago. It didn’t keep you there. So you lie in the dark doing the math on how few hours are left, and you tell yourself what you always tell yourself: just keep going.
You’ve been keeping going for a long time. And somewhere in there, the version of you that felt steady, that slept, that could hold a temper and a thought at the same time, got quieter and quieter until you started to wonder where she went.
I want to help you get her back. Not by teaching you to breathe through it or push harder, though we’ll do some of that, too. By working directly with the brain that’s been running the show at 2 a.m.
Why Talk Therapy Alone Hasn’t Quieted Your Mind
Picture taking your car to the mechanic because it’s running weird. It lurches, it clunks, sometimes it stalls at a light. You don’t want them to top off the gas and wave you back onto the road. You want the actual problem found and fixed at the root.
Your brain runs on the same logic. When its internal timing is off, the “car” runs rough, and that roughness has names you already know: headaches, migraines, panic, brain fog, nightmares, restless legs, the anxiety that won’t sit down. These trace back to how well the brain is keeping time.
That’s the piece traditional talk therapy was never built to reach. You can understand exactly why you feel the way you feel and still lie awake at 2 a.m., because insight lives in the mind, and the trouble lives one level below it, in the brain itself.

How We Strengthen Your Brain’s Timing
Neurofeedback is the tool I reach for first, because it works directly with the brain to strengthen its timing mechanism. As that timing steadies, calmer sleep and a quieter body tend to follow on their own, not because you forced them, but because the brain is finally doing its job well.
From there we bring in cognitive behavioral work, the part where you learn to read the signs, spot the thought patterns that keep dead-ending, and build tools that hold up in real relationships and real stress. The brain gets steadier underneath while your skills get sharper on top. I’ve watched that combination give people back control over their mood, sleep, and reactions that talk therapy alone had never delivered.
A quick, honest note on how this goes: we meet weekly, and consistency is the whole game. Each session, we track where you started against where you are now, and the effect compounds. Give yourself some grace on the weeks that feel slow. The work builds.

What Getting Yourself Back Looks Like
For a parent, it can look like watching your kid walk out of my office as a calmer, better-regulated version of themselves, the kid you knew was in there. For an athlete, it’s the shift from playing to prove you matter to competing from the settled knowledge that you already do. For you, it might simply be a full night’s sleep in your own bed, more good days than bad, and the plain relief of recognizing yourself again.
That’s the real you. Not a reinvented one. The one who was there before your brain started running rough.
About Anna Psaute, LPC
My goal is to help you be more in control of how you feel, have more good days than bad, and feel confident in who you are. I’m passionate about the work I do. I love that the tools I use offer a natural alternative to medication. I love getting to watch kids leave my office as a better-regulated version of themselves. And it means the world to me when a client tells me, “You changed my life.”
I know what it’s like to struggle, both with confidence and mood regulation. Helping people reach a better version of themselves and take their life back is what energizes me.
Professionally, I’m licensed in Michigan as a Licensed Professional Counselor. I hold a Master’s degree from Cornerstone University and practiced traditional therapy for six years before I encountered neurofeedback. I began my neurofeedback training in 2017 and earned my certification in Othmer Method Neurofeedback in 2020.
In my free time, I enjoy competing in pickleball year-round. Summer is my favorite, especially spending time at Lake Michigan.
